Leading independent fire protection and detection specialist Argus Fire has pumped up its investment in design and installation expertise by appointing its first two associate directors.
Dale Kinnersley and Matthew Gwynne, who are both based at the company’s offices in Stourbridge, have been promoted to Associate Technical Director and Associate Project Director respectively.
With 25 years’ experience in fire protection design, Dale Kinnersley from Stone in Staffordshire joined Argus Fire in 2007 as design manager and was promoted to senior design manager in 2011.
He is now running a design department that in only four years has grown by 50% to one of the largest in Britain with 23 highly qualified designers.
His responsibilities include ensuring that all contracts meet the highest design standards and all staff are fully trained and accredited, as well as providing technical support to clients and consultants.
Dale has worked on sprinkler systems and fire detection systems for premises from shops and offices to heritage and landmark buildings, including The Royal Pump Rooms, Leamington and The British Library. He has also designed gas protection, deluge flooding and foam spray systems for special risk areas.
Matthew Gwynne, who heads up the company’s project management department, joined Argus Fire in 1996 as a project engineer before quickly rising to project manager.
With almost 30 years’ experience in engineering, his credentials include a UK apprentice of the year nomination and working for German firm Brochier GmbH in Munich on fire protection contracts in the Middle East.
Matthew, who lives in Stafford, is responsible for managing the resources required to carry out large and complex projects. His department has grown to five times its size since he was made project manager, with eight project managers, five project engineers and six supervisors all directly employed.
His current project responsibilities range from fitting out 866 luxury apartments at the Battersea Power Station redevelopment to equipping office and retail accommodation at 100 Bishopsgate. He has also worked on Westfield London, the largest covered shopping development in the capital.
