International independent real estate consultants Hollis has appointed experienced fire safety consultant Steve Cooper as Fire Engineering Partner.
The appointment highlights Hollis’ commitment to fire safety, especially in the area of fire engineering and fire protection. Several large fires over the past few years have led to significant, and in most cases, preventable loss of life. Hollis has taken this focus and expanded on it through the provision of a new fire engineering service, led by Cooper.
A Chartered Fire Engineer with 30 years’ experience, Cooper boasts a rare mix of practical, design and consultancy expertise. He was Station Commander at Essex County Fire & Rescue Service, before moving into consultancy, and he has held senior roles in fire engineering for businesses around the UK for the past 20 years. He is currently appointed as an expert witness in a number of building defects claims, often involving external cladding and walling systems.
His remit at Hollis includes building a leading fire engineering service with consultancy and design capability; supporting and enhancing Hollis’ existing services through upskilling of its people and the provision of fire engineering advice; developing tools and integrating software to support the new fire engineering service. Cooper will be based out of the firm’s London office.
