Firefighter of the year aims to get to FDIC International 2016
Dmitriy Polscin is a firefighter in Chisinau, Moldova at the Chisinau Central Fire Department Number 2. He has served the department for 13 years and was awarded the Firefighter of the Year award in April of 2015.
To progress firefighting knowledge and understanding within Moldova we are assisting a campaign to get Dmitry to FDIC in April this year for him to take part in the full week of classes so he can take that training back home to his department. Currently Moldova does not receive outside training or send their firefighters abroad because they simply don’t have the funds to allocate to this.
Dmitry has started a GoFundMe campaign to try to get himself to FDIC. He has set a very modest target and I am sure that readers of MDM titles will dig deep and do everything they can to assist a fellow brother come to the US in April and experience something we all take for granted – structured training.
Task Force Tips recently helped Dmitriy and his department get some equipment, as all they were still using were old, Soviet style smoothbores. Together we can help our brothers and sisters globally to achieve greater knowledge and understanding to make sure they stay safe and always come home.
