The Society for Earthquake and Civil Engineering Dynamics (SECED), in collaboration with the BSI sub-committee responsible for Eurocode 8, has launched a Eurocode 8 forum to ensure a strong UK voice is heard during the current period of revising the Eurocodes. Eurocode 8 (Design of structures for earthquake resistance) applies to the design and construction of buildings and civil engineering works in seismic regions with the aim of protecting people and limiting damage during earthquakes.
The purpose of the forum is to collect comments and proposed changes for all parts of Eurocode. Eurocode 8 is in six parts: general rules, seismic actions and rules for buildings; bridges; strengthening and repair of buildings; silos, tanks and pipelines; foundations, retaining structures and pipelines; and towers, masts and chimneys.
