FM Global has announced the latest round of changes to its technical data sheets. The latest revised data sheets include DS 7-76 (Prevention and Mitigation of Combustible Dust Explosion and Fire) and DS 7-88 (Flammable Liquid Storage Tanks). Data sheets now added to the obsolete list include DS 2-69 (Unlisted Automatic Sprinklers), DS 2-74 (Identification of FMRC-approved Plated Sprinklers) and DS 3-9 (Underwriter Steam Fire Pumps).
Data sheet DS 7-76 describes recommended preventive measures to reduce the frequency of combustible dust explosions, and protection features to minimise damage from a combustible dust explosion. The latest revision modifies the definition of an exposable dust to align with industry practice by removing the specific particle size limit. Data sheet DS 7-88 applies to storage in horizontal and vertical tanks usually constructed of metal and located above ground, underground, or inside buildings. Storage in floating roof tanks is not addressed.
