The Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Co. Inc. has announced the introduction of the RFC49plus residential flat plate concealed sprinkler.
The RFC49plus is a residential flat plate concealed fire sprinkler with a nominal K-factor of 71 and features an industry-leading 25mm vertical cover plate adjustment. The RFC49plus is intended for installation in accordance with NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, or NFPA 13D. The sprinklers are cULus Listed as Residential Sprinklers in accordance with UL 199. For municipalities requiring NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 Certification for drinking water components, the RFC49LLplus is also available.
‘Installers frequently confront unexpected challenges on a jobsite,’ noted Technical Services Manager Greg Wilson. ‘Variation in drywall thickness, ceiling finishes, and use of furring channels may result in a much deeper installation than anticipated. The full 25mm of vertical cover plate adjustment will go a long way in mitigating jobsite surprises.’
The RFC49plus features a robust fusible link operating element with temperature ratings of 74°C or 100°C. Both temperature ratings are cULus Listed for the same low minimum per sprinkler water flow/pressure requirements of 49 lpm/0.48 bar for spacings up to 4.9m by 4.9m, 64 lpm/0.83 bar for spacings up to 5.5m by 5.5m, and 75.7 lpm/1.15 bar for spacings up to 6.1m by 6.1m.
The RFC49plus may be installed with its plastic protective cap in place using the Model W10 wrench. Wrenchable caps not only save installation time but also provide protection of the product before, during and after installation. The W11 plastic wrench is also available for limited use installation and spare sprinkler cabinets.
The RFC49plus uses the sturdy, smooth-edged G5 cover plate assembly, which is common to many of Reliable’s residential and commercial concealed pendent sprinklers. The G5 cover plate is available in standard finishes of white and chrome, five special application finishes, and 12 woodgrain finishes. G5 covers can also be custom painted and custom printed to match virtually any colour, finish, or pattern.
