A festive kick-off marked the start of the construction of Sealing Valley. The construction of Beele Engineering’s Centre of Excellence will occur in phases; the first phase is expected to be completed by the end of 2018. The construction of the 45,000 m2 campus in Aalten represents a €20 million investment. On the occasion of the kick-off, Mayor J.A. Gerritsen and Alderman T. Kok of the municipality of Aalten, together with Mr and Mrs Beele unveiled four signs that will grace the building site over the coming period.
Sealing Valley represents the result of 45 years of knowledge and experience in the field of sealing technology. During this period it has become clear that there is too much ignorance about the field of sealing technology relating to fire resistance and waterproofing. Beele Engineering wants to combat that ignorance by establishing Sealing Valley, a Centre of Excellence where research, development, testing, education and training converge. The knowledge and experience that has been built up will be transferred here in a responsible, objective and independent way.
Where necessary and feasible, the Centre will collaborate with external parties in the field of education, certification and training. Furthermore, there is expected to be a collaboration with suppliers and customers. The collaboration with suppliers will focus on accelerating innovation in the area of fire safety and waterproofing, while the focus with customers will be on optimising field application options.
This way it becomes possible to ensure that fire safety related innovations as quickly as possible find their way to market – from offshore and shipbuilding to construction and industry.
The build-up, maintenance and expansion of knowledge also form the basis for the workshops that will be organised in Sealing Valley. In Sealing Valley installers, consultants, professionals and other involved parties in the field of fire safety and waterproofing will have the opportunity to work on practical applications, provide feedback, exchange information and thus enhance their knowledge.
In addition to this transfer of knowledge to the market, Sealing Valley will also secure the transfer of knowledge to young engineers. The knowledge of younger professionals in the area of fire safety and waterproofing will be elevated to a higher level through training and education. In Sealing Valley they will be coached, supervised, trained and stimulated to proactively contribute to a safer world.
