Memorial Service Remembers Those Who Died in the Grenfell Tower Fire and Looks to the Future

Six months after the horrific fire engulfed the Grenfell Tower in London, UK, survivors of the tragedy gathered at St Pauls Cathedral in the City for a memorial service.

The service was opened with a minutes silence by the Dene of St Pauls Cathedral, Dr David Ison. Other attendees included members of the Royal Family and Prime Minister Theresa May. The Dene called for “unity in the face of sorrow”.

The Bishop of Kensington, Graham Tomlin organised the event and paid tribute to those who attended and assisted at the fire and those who continue to assist the many people affected by the events of 14th June 2017.

A banner with the sign for Grenfell surrounded by a large heart stood at the front of the cathedral which included musical tributes and songs of hope from St Pauls Cathedral Choir, the Salvation Army Band and other local choirs.

After the Service attendees were given white roses before leaving what was a fitting tribute to so many.

The criminal investigation and preparations for the public enquiry into the fire which claimed 71 lives continue.
