Hamburg, 7th October 2026. During yesterday’s annual members’ meeting of the International Water Mist Association (IWMA), Kristian Hox was confirmed in office as an IWMA Director.

At the same time, long-standing board member Luciano Nigro of Jensen Hughes stepped down from his position as he approaches retirement. His vacant seat will be filled by his Jensen Hughes colleague Paolo Bigatti.

Paolo Bigatti: Jensen Hughes
Nigro was elected to the IWMA Board in 2011 and has played an active role in promoting the development and wider acceptance of water mist technology throughout his tenure.
Reflecting on his time on the board, Nigro said: “I think I have given a positive contribution to the development of water mist technology as one of the most innovative and promising firefighting technologies ever proposed to the market. During these years, I brought to the board the voice and perspective of fire engineers designing water mist systems, who are among the most important actors in determining the diffusion and adoption of the technology.
My position has always been that we need to make water mist technology easy and viable for fire engineers. Otherwise, they will opt for simpler or better-known solutions.”
Nigro added: “I hope to be able to continue contributing to the association in some capacity because of my lifelong passion for water mist technology.”
IWMA thanks Luciano Nigro for his many years of commitment and contribution to the association and welcomes Paolo Bigatti to the Board of Directors.
